TUTONG District Volunteers Group (SUKA) handed over boxes of clothing to a family who lost their home to a recent fire in Kampong Luagan Timbaran, Mukim Kiudang.
SUKA Secretariat Head Muhammad Amir bin Haji Umarali presented the donation to Massita binti Haji Mohammad, the head of the family.
Mukim Kiudang Penghulu Haji Abdul Rahim bin Abdullah Yakin, Kampong Birau Acting Village Head Haji Mohamd Taib bin Haji Jaluddin and Tutong District Volunteers Group were also in attendance.
Muhammad Amir explained that the clothing was donated by the community, through SUKA’s Sumbang dan Bantu (Contribute and Help) programme.
He said, the public continues to provide support by making contributions every week.
For the month of Ramadhan, SUKA will also continue its mukim to mukim expedition programme – Jelajah Mukim ke Mukim.
The Jelajah Mukim ke Mukim programme aims to expand the scope of Sumbang dan Bantu programme, strengthening working relations with organisations such as the mukim and village consultative councils in the country, as well as other volunteer groups to boost community and volunteer work.
Through the mukim to mukim programme, SUKA also hopes to spread the word on the activities that it is organising to promote awareness and interests in the community in volunteer work.
To date, SUKA has helped hand over 4,000 clothings to victims of house fires from the Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Temburong districts.
Individuals keen on contributing can do so by placing their donation in the ‘Drop Point’ of the Sumbang dan Bantu programme at the SUKA office, at No 18 Simpang 172, Jalan Sungai Basong.
