UNISSA holds Ramadhan programmes

UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Student Representative Council, recently held Ramadhan Food Drive and Safari Ramadhan programmes.

The Ramadhan food Drive took place on May 12-13 and was a collaborative effort between the Welfare and Community Unit of UNISSA’s Student Representative Council and the Syariah Law Society of UNISSA.

According to a press release, the project succeeded to collect donations of assistance in the form of financial contributions and basic needs items for 20 less privileged families in the Brunei-Muara District.

The donations are hoped to help these families during Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, the Safari Ramadhan was led by the Student Representative Council’s Religious and Spiritual Unit, with the aim of carrying out community and welfare activities while also strengthening ‘ukhuwwah’ among students and the community, and contributing to the development of students’ personalities outside of lectures.

The first series of this programme took place on May 14 at Kampong Bukit Mosque in Tutong District and saw the participation of 15 students and residents of Kampong Bukit.

The programme involved a mass Maghrib prayer, followed by a talk presented by Imam of Kampong Bukit Mosque Haji Muhd Azli bin Aliuddin.

There was also a group sharing and discussion session regarding Ramadhan between.

Students also had the opportunity to listen to attendees, including new converts who are fasting for the first time this year.

The press release added that the programme will continue and be held again during Ramadhan at another location with different content.
