LOCAL judo athlete Rasimoon bin Haji Adinin bagged bronze medal at the Penang Judo Championship in Penang, Malaysia recently.
Following the launch of the Brunei National Judo Federation in March, the team competed in their first-ever Judo competition sending four of its members guided by Saki Kishimoto, a press statement said.
Mateen bin Abdul Rajid competed in the Under-100kg category; Rasimoon bin Haji Adinin in the Under-90kg category; Muhammad Iskandar bin Muhammad Rasimoon in the Under-55kg; and Aqilah binti Md Abidin in the Under-52kg category.
The competition saw participation from various Judo teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Uzbekistan.
The federation hopes to participate more in regional and international competitions, with a long-term view to host one in the country. The federation will conduct its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 10, enabling the registration of new members.
