HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s much-anticipated get-together ceremony with citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara District to mark the monarch’s 72nd royal birthday celebration will take place on July 29.
This was highlighted by the Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim who chaired the second meeting of the Executive Committee for the 72nd royal birthday celebration of His Majesty in the district, at the Muhibbah Hall at the Old Airport yesterday.
Prior to the event, the national flag will be hoisted for one month starting on July 1 until July 30 while the ceremonial parade will be at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on July 15, he said.
On the eve of July 14, mass prayers, recitations of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Selamat will be held with special focus at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong.
Misle said the meeting also discussed how to ensure the involvement of people from all walks of life, especially the youth; the need to strengthen the harmony and national identity among all levels of community; the management of the celebration based on His Majesty’s titah and the importance of maintaining cleanliness before, during and after the celebration.
The meeting also discussed the progress of the preparations for the event.
A special performance during the get-together ceremony in the capital will highlight the people’s love towards their caring ruler, the district officer said.
Present at the meeting were members of the Legislative Council comprising penghulus and village heads, senior government officers, members of the Malay, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani business community and representatives from the private sector.
