THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MorA) held its mass Subuh prayer programme in selected mosques, suraus and religious halls across the Sultanate yesterday, in an ongoing effort to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the programme was held at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang and the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Jerudong.
The chief guest at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque was Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong; Legislative Council member and the Penghulu of Mukim of Berakas ‘B’ Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang; and Deputy Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Communications Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi were also in attendance.
Meanwhile, the mass Subuh prayer session at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Jerudong was attended by Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoRA (Administrative and Financial Affairs) Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah.
The mass Subuh prayers were followed with a mass recitation of the Surah Ad–Dhukan and a special lecture (Tadabbur Al–Quran) near the end.
In the Belait District, the programme was held at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, where Acting Belait District Officer Haji Mohd Zamree bin Haji Junaidi was the guest of honour.
In the Tutong District, the programme was held at the Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque, which saw the attendance of Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Umarali bin Esung.
In the Temburong District, Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu attended the mass Subuh porgramme at the Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Mosque in Mukim Bokok.
The weekly programme is intended to foster a sense of unity among the Muslim community, in addition to enlivening the holy month of Ramadhan through nightly prayer vigils and Al-Quran recitations.
