BRUNEI Medical Association (BMA) members distributed 700 Sungkai food packs to patients, visitors and staff of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital on Saturday.
BMA President Dr Haji Azlan bin Haji Jaludin led the food packs distribution with support from the association’s executive members.
The event began with a mass Asar prayer at the hospital’s Surau followed by the recitation of Doa.
The food packs were distributed to all staff under the hospital’s various services, including the Accident and Emergency Department, medical wards, surgical wards, obstetrics and gynaecology wards, paediatric wards, critical care services, renal wards and psychiatry wards. Doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff including security officers and cleaners also received the food packs.
The distribution was meant to bring cheer to the recipients in the month of Ramadhan.
The event was also a part of the association’s contributions to the community and efforts to promote the running of charitable activities among medical professionals beyond their regular clinical duties.
Speaking to the Bulletin after the event, Dr Haji Azlan said, “We hope to organise more of similar activities this year, and encourage more doctors to join our organisation.”
