BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) yesterday held a handover of Zakat to the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), in a ceremony at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
During the ceremony, BIBD handed over BND2,191,839.84 of business Zakat and BND721,168.49 of Zakat for customer deposits in the period from June 1, 2017, to May 31, 2018.
Minister of Religious Affairs and the President of MUIB Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman received the BIBD Business Zakat from Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Chairman of the BIBD Syariah Advisory Body.
Meanwhile, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BIBD Mubashar Khokhar presented the minister with the Zakat for customer deposits for the period of 2017-2018.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and the Vice President of MUIB Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin; and Acting Secretary of MUIB Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop were also present.
The money will be deposited in the Asnaf Zakat (Zakat Fund) for the destitute and the underprivileged.
