HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah yesterday evening reminded that remembrance of Allah the Almighty is integral to Islamic faith, extolling its virtues that purify one’s heart from evil.
In the titah aired on state broadcaster Radio Television Brunei (RTB) from the Istana Nurul Iman on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri for the year 1439 Hijrah which falls today, His Majesty noted that widespread global turmoil Muslim communities are not exempted from, warrants us to always remember Allah the Almighty through Zikir or remembrance.
“The world today is very ruthless, filled with clashes… Peace is no longer guaranteed and is being replaced by chaos and cruel massacres,” said the monarch, blaming it on neglect towards Allah the Almighty. His Majesty added that people remember Allah the Almighty lesser than other things which makes it easier for “enemies” to infiltrate, be it the devil or human beings.
The monarch said that the most obvious remedy to such enmity is to instantly become closer to Allah the Almighty, chanting and remembering Him as well as asking for His guidance and protection.
Earlier in the titah, His Majesty extolled the significance of Hari Raya Aidilfitri for Muslims, which the monarch said is a day to rejoice after a month of fasting. “Hari Raya Aidilfitri is very unique. It is not merely an ordinary celebration but an obligatory occasion to praise and remember Allah the Almighty as much as possible. This is the virtue of us celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” the monarch added.
“Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a day to glorify Allah the Almighty. This is evident because prior to the highlight of the day which is the Sunnat Aidilfitri prayer, we will all chant the Takbir, recite the Tahlil, Tahmid and Tasbih to glorify Him. “This unique celebration’s impact is not void; rather it is filled with the promises of bounties from Allah the Almighty,” added His Majesty.
The monarch concluded the titah by extending his well-wishes to the people of Brunei Darussalam.
“Members of my family and I extend our Hari Raya greetings to all of the Muslim citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam, wherever they may be. We pray for their well-being and may they celebrate this joyous event in peace and security,” said His Majesty.
