YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) is a charitable platform of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family established as a sign of care and concern towards his subjects to shape a prosperous and harmonious Brunei community.
Recently the Yayasan, through the Caring for the Elderly and Families in Need Charity Project (PAWEK), carried-out a community project at the residence of Atifah binti Abdullah Bungga at Kg Temada, Temburong.
Atifah, 47, is a housewife and a permanent resident. Her husband is working at a sawmill in Kg Batang Mitus, Tutong and earns $550. They have two children.
Her bungalow house has been occupied for the past 20 years and was built by her husband. Initially it has no bedroom and only had a kitchen and toilet. Electricity and water are supplied by her mother who is living next door.
To assist her, Yayasan has financed $14,717.50 to repair and provide the family a bedroom.
Staff involved in PAWEK activities painted her house and cleaned the area. Yayasan through PAWEK has also contributed food necessities amounting to $200.
Present at the community prospect were Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports who is also a member of the Board of Directors as the Chairperson of Yayasan Voluntary Committee and Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, Managing Director of Yayasan.
Also present were the Village Head of Kg Lepong Lama, Ambol anak Bakit; assistant managing directors of Yayasan, officers and staff of Yayasan and 20 volunteers of Yayasan from the Temburong District.
