THE Public Works Department (JKR) is still working to resolve the coloured water issue that has affected households over the last few days.
JKR assured that according to routine monitoring of water samples from several locations in the Brunei-Muara and Tutong districts, the water supply is still in compliance with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Standard Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality.
Complaints had been received with regard to coloured water.
The department informed the public recently that the quality of raw river water was difficult to treat due to the recent floods around the Kuala Barun basin.
As such, the level of clean water production had decreased to ensure the final water quality for the public was not affected.
The department constantly works to improve the level of clean water production and prevent coloured water from entering the water supply system.
Preventive measures are constantly being upgraded and implemented to ensure consistency of water quality within the WHO’s Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality.
In addition, pipeline flushing has also been carried out continuously since last month in most areas of the two districts.
The department advised the public to boil their drinking water as a precautionary measure and to use water prudently. They can contact Darussalam line 123 for any water-related problems.
