IN CONJUNCTION with the 72nd birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) will host its much-anticipated annual tournament on July 21.
In the past, this tournament has attracted international and regional players including ex-NBA players.
This year, the title sponsor of the tournament is You-C1000, who will also be the official sport drink provider to the tournament.
With their generous sponsorship, BND3,500 is up for grabs in the You-C1000 Basketball Open. In addition to medals and trophies, the champion of You-C1000 Basketball Open will receive BND2,000 while the first and second runner-up will receive BND1,000 and BND500.
The tournament is open to all Brunei residents with a valid Brunei IC. Each team can field a maximum of two import players ie players without valid Brunei IC.
To enhance the quality and excitement of the basketball tournament, the BBA will incentivise teams who field import players. Tournament registration fees will be waived for the team who field non-Asian import.
Part of the ticket sales from the semi-final and grand final games will also be allocated to semi-finalists of the tournament.
Teams interested in participating in the You-C1000 Basketball Open must submit their registration form before July 14. Registration forms are available at BBA Batu Bersurat Basketball Court.
The registration fee is BND400 per team and each team is also required to pay a refundable deposit of BND200.
