Six company drivers fined for breaking rules

SIX drivers from five transportation companies were issued compound fines for carrying excess loads, during recent roadside checks conducted by the Enforcement Section of the Land Transport Department (JPD).

In its press statement, JPD said that Syarikat Haji Zaini Dan Anak-Anak, HCO. Transportation Services and LNS Trading and Contractor Sdn Bhd were each issued a BND50 compound fine during on June 14.

One of the drivers was given six SiKAP demerit points for operating a vehicle with bald tyres.

On June 20, a driver from Zaini HZ Transport was fined BND500 for overloading. A temporary suspension of renting and a wage licence notice were also issued to the company as it was the fourth time the driver had been charged with the offence.

The following day, two drivers from Q Stone Sdn Bhd were each fined BND150 and BND300 for carrying excess loads in their vehicles.

The JPD operation is part of an ongoing initiative to ensure transportation companies and their drivers are operating in compliance with the rules of the Road Traffic Act, which includes keeping their vehicles in good condition.
