BRUNEI Darussalam national basketball team finished the SEABA Pre-Qualifier for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup with fighting spirit despite falling to a 86-50 defeat to Malaysia at the Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
After being given a glimpse of the high competition level by Thailand and Indonesia, they battled hard against Singapore and also notched victory against Cambodia.
Brunei kept pace with Malaysia in all quarters going down 11-22, 12-20, 12-24, 15-24, a steady improvement than their three previous defeats.
Ahmad Termizi bin Haji Nordeen reprised his role as one of the key players for Brunei after leading the points with 14 while Jen Hao Onn led the rebounds with 6.
Ahmad Termizi also dominated the assist elements with three while Ching Poh Chong made two steals and Md Zainul Ashyraf bin Haji Hussin making one block.
Malaysia’s Zhi Shin Chin produced a game high of 29 points while Lok Seng Mak led the rebounds with 20 points.
Indonesia were crowned the champions after completing their perfect run with a 85-70 win over Singapore.
