Information Department hosts religious talk in run-up to royal birthday celebrations

MORE than 400 invited guests from government and private agencies attended the Semarak Hari Keputeraan programme at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital yesterday, in conjunction with the 72nd birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The guest of honour was Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud.

Also present were Legislative Council (LegCo) members, permanent secretaries and heads of government departments.

The event was enlivened by a special religious talk by Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin about the blessings of Allah the Almighty upon the people of Brunei Darussalam, under the leadership of a benevolent, caring monarch.

The programme concluded with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Mulk.

The event was organised by the Information Department to convey a better understanding of His Majesty’s aspirations in guiding Brunei as a Zikir Nation.
