In addition, the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam has offered different videos featuring a comprehensive view of Japanese culture, nature, science and technology and tourism among others, produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Some of the sponsored TV programmes include Kids Survival School which aims to encourage children to acquire knowledge about disaster survival in an enjoyable way; Listen to the Earth which inspires students to consider how to protect themselves when faced with natural disasters such as earthquakes, thunderstorms and typhoons by getting a better understanding of mechanisms that generate natural disasters; What Can We Do? The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and JAMCO hopes that by RTB broadcasting these Japanese TV programmes, it will contribute to disaster prevention and help inform the public on the importance of reducing environmental problems, while also encouraging international cooperation. It also hopes to bring wider interest in Japan among the Bruneian public.
JAMCO was established in 1991 for the purpose of promoting international mutual understanding and contributing to the development of global broadcasting. It was originally created with funds from Japan’s national public broadcaster NHK and commercial TV companies. Since its inauguration, more than 12,000 programmes have been provided to 96 countries.
