‘Haj Advance Party’ departs for Makkah

THIRTEEN members of Brunei’s ‘Haj Advance Party’ from the Department of Haj Management left the Sultanate yesterday for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prepare for the Haj for Bruneian pilgrims.

The delegation comprised five Haj administration officers and eight medical officers led by Director of Haj Management (Administration) Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohamad and Director of Haj Management (Medical) Dr Haji Mahmud Shauqi bin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Haji Mahmud Saedon.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Jaafar bid farewell to the Haj Advance Party at the Brunei International Airport.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah, senior officials from the ministries and close family members were also present.

Preparations were made to ensure a smooth journey for the advance party as well as the Bruneian Haj pilgrims.

The first and second batch of Bruneian pilgrims will leave for the holy land on July 28 – 29 while the third and fourth batch will leave on July 31 and August 1.

They will be accompanied by 35 Haj administration officers and medical officers.
