UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) yesterday held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of its new School of Design complex, which will be built at the university’s Phase 2.
Present to officiate the foundation laying event as guest of honour was UTB Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman. The event was witnessed by the university’s principal officers.
The ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the actual ground-breaking led by the guest of honour, before continuing with a recitation of Doa Selamat to bless the historic event.
The event also saw the signing of the contract agreement for the construction of the School of Design complex between UTB and LSL Sdn Bhd by Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah and LSL Sdn Bhd Director Dato Paduka Haji Ahmad bin Kadi.
Construction works for the new School of Design will be completed by the end of September this year, with the new building to be equipped with its own gallery, studios and offices.
