A SHOP in Jalan Bebatik Kulapis was completely destroyed in a fire, on Sunday morning.
A total of 22 firefighters from the Pengkalan Batu and Jerudong fire stations were immediately dispatched to the scene, after the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 10.17am.
Led by Assistant Superintendent Haji Hassan bin Haji Jamudin, the firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within 25 minutes.
Also present at the fire scene were Acting Senior Superintendent Haji Nordin bin Haji Buntan and Assistant Superintendent Suhaimi bin Haji Muhamad, the respective Commanding and Assistant Commanding Officers of the ‘F’ Operations Branch; and Station Officer Pengiran Haji Ali Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Halus, the Public Relations and Commanding Officer.
The cause and estimated damages of the fire are still under investigation.
In view of the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department has issued a reminder about the dangers of overloaded electrical circuits. Members of the public are advised to do maintenance and do regular checks of their home electrical installation and wiring through companies that are accredited by the Department of Electrical Services.
