THE two-day Youth Entrepreneurship Plenary 2018 forum officially began yesterday.
The Department of Youth and Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, organised the event to act as a platform for youth entrepreneurs and related agencies to hold discussions on current economic issues and share their perspectives on business as a means of encouraging more Bruneian youth to venture into the world of entrepreneurship.
Present at yesterday’s event was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw.
During the first session, nine youth were invited to deliver talks – Haji Mohd Loqman Al-Hakim bin Haji Hamdan of Al-Huffaz Management, Edyzurina binti Awang of Al-Salwaa, Haji Muliadi bin Moksin of Marsya Farm, Phillip Ong of BruGoat Farming, Manager of In-Country Value Brunei Darussalam Hajah Rosita binti Hassan, Executive Officer of DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) Mohd Khairul Azmi bin Salleh, an Entomologist and Head of International Affairs and Public Relations of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Hirman, Senior Fisheries Officer at the MPRT Noraini binti Haji Anggas and Relationship Officer at Bank Usahawan Nur Amalina binti Haji Abdul Rahman.
The session was moderated by Head of Ease of Doing Business at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry Yusri bin Mat Yussof.
The plenary session in addition aims to open up more opportunities for youth to start, own, manage and run their own businesses, with a range of programmes – facilitated by various agencies – being made available to them.
The session, which has been planned to run annually, is earmarked to be an event paving the way for the Department of Youth and Sports to become one of the country’s go-to bodies for entrepreneurship development.
