VICTIMS of collapsed houses, house fires, floods and strong winds from several villages in the Brunei-Muara District yesterday morning received the government’s financial aid at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented the government financial assistance to the victims.
The ceremony was also attended by Acting Director of Community Development Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir and senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Community Development Department.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Religious Teacher Trainee of Pusat Bahagia Ustaz Haji Nuurmatin bin Haji Abu Bakar.
It continued with the presentation of government financial assistance to the victims of the collapsed house at Kampong Setia ‘A’ on May 6; house fire victims in RPN Kampong Tanah Jambu on May 24; RPN Kampong Meragang on May 30; Kampong Mulaut on July 4; Kampong Sungai Besar on July 6; STKRJ Kampong Rimba on July 7 and Kampong Parit on July 19.
Seven houses affected by floods at Kampong Kapok on May 16, 22 and 23 also received government financial assistance.
Also receiving financial assistance were those affected by strong winds in several villages on May 11, 12, 16 and July 13.
The villages affected by the strong winds were Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama, RPN Kampong Rimba, Kampong Setia ‘A’, Kampong Perpindahan Mata-Mata, Kampong Manggis 1, STKRJ Kampong Mata-Mata and Kampong Delima Satu.
The government-assisted aid are expected to help alleviate the hardships suffered by the victims and their families.
