FOR the past several months, a shortage in supply of fish at the Gadong fish market prompted most of the fishmongers to temporarily close their stalls.
Fishmongers said this is mainly due to unpredictable weather and rough seas, winds and heavy rain.
Most fishermen are not going out to sea because of the bad weather condition.
Most of the fish is supplied from neighbouring Malaysian states of Lawas, Sarawak and Sabah. Currently, the supply of fish is not sufficient to cater to the market demand.
There are only a few types of fish available now such as mackerel (ikan tenggiri), red snapper (ikan merah) and stingray (pari).
