THE Faculty of Usuluddin at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) held the opening ceremony of its annual Ukhuwah Islamiah Camp programme.

Held at Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in Kampong Sengkarai, Tutong, the programme runs from August 24-26.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong officiated the programme as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Muhammad Zharfan bin Haji Ahmad and recitation of Al-Quran verses by Awang Mohammad.

The ceremony continued with a welcoming address by the Dean of Faculty of Usuluddin at KUPU SB Dr Mikdar Rusdi followed by the official opening of the Ukhuwah Islamiah Camp by the guest of honour.

The programme has been annually held since 2011 and is carried under the three concepts of Syiar, Salam and Silaturrahim.

The programme includes formats such as Qiyamullail; mass Subuh and Doha prayers; camping or spending a night at the mosque; lectures focussing on strengthening of Aqidah, Syaksiah Muslim, the importance of Ukhuwah; practical guidance on enhancing prayer and recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah; and community activities.

The programme aimed, among others, to instil responsibilities in Muslim individuals by strengthening the Ukhuwah Islamiah with village residents; introducing KUPU SB to the society and community; providing exposure and experience to students in interacting with the community; and to inculcate in them the concept of Ma’ruf Nahi Munkar.
