A FLAG was presented yesterday to the Belait District contingent who will compete in the Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) at the Kampong Pandan Community Hall in Kuala Belait.
The handover ceremony started with the singing of the national anthem followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by the Acting Imam of the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Haji Mohd Zakaria bin Roseta.
The flag was handed over by the guest of honour Acting Belait District Officer Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad to the Head of Belait contingent Abdol Hazis bin Haji Ahad, who then handed it over to one of the Belait athletes Muhd Ameerul Solehan bin Muhd Kassim.
The Belait contingent comprises 429 athletes who will compete in badminton, netball, cycling, basketball, softball, football, volleyball, lawn bowl, chess, dart, futsal, golf, karate-do, cue sports, fencing, boat race, pencak silat, athletics, table tennis, rugby, swimming, sepak takraw, squash, tug-of-war, 10-Pin bowling, and wushu.
Also present at the ceremony were the Belait contingent along with 17 instructors, senior administration officers and staff at the Belait District Office as well as officers and staff at the Youth and Sports Department in the Belait District. Representatives from local companies and agencies in the Belait District were also present to handover various sponsorships for the contingent.
Belait District finished third overall in the previous edition of SKBD after bagging six gold medals, six silver and four bronze.
