THE city of Nanning is gearing up for the 15th China-ASEAN EXPO (CAEXPO) on September 12-15, at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the theme of ‘Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Forging the China-ASEAN Community of Innovation, and alongside the slogans, ‘Celebrating 15 Years of China-ASEAN Expo – A Win-Win Platform of Strategic Cooperation’.
Organised by the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with the joint sponsorship of China’s ministries and department of commerce/industry and trade, the CAEXPO is aimed at enhancing the relationship between ASEAN and China, including Brunei Darussalam.
According to the CAEXPO Secretariat, “Having been successfully concluded for 14 sessions so far, the CAEXPO has grown into an event of special international influence, and plays an important role in promoting the China-ASEAN friendly cooperation, and in building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
“Innovation will be a highlight of the 15th CAEXPO. We will upgrade the manufacturing sector in China and ASEAN, by popularising advanced information and smart technologies, while strengthening the bilateral cooperation in industrial capacity and equipment manufacturing.”
Accordingly, the 15th CAEXPO will see more high-tech products being showcased, along with more promotions and business-matching events for the mobilising of leading Chinese enterprises to invest in ASEAN member countries.
Meanwhile, Brunei will be setting up booths for a range of commodities and services which include food and beverages, health and beauty care, fashionable consumables, handicrafts, tourism services, information technology and higher education.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will be hosting the Brunei Investment Promotion Seminar on September 13, with the view of promoting mutual cooperation and investments between Brunei and China. With Brunei actively pursuing economic diversification, the CAEXPO offers an excellent platform for both Brunei and China to seize business opportunities and promote further cooperation in the fields of agriculture, Halal food processing, biomedicine and tourism.
Through the annual expo, Bruneian enterprises have already expanded their market in China and ASEAN member countries, while China enterprises have acquired more knowledge about the Brunei market.
