TO ENLIVEN the new Hijrah year celebration, Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar organised a walkathon at the vicinity of the mosque yesterday.
The guest of honour was Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong in his capacity as the Patron of the mosque.
The event began with a mass Subuh prayer followed with a religious talk on Ilmu dan Amal Nadi Wawasan Negara by Ustaz Abdul Rahman bin Ajak followed by the hoisting of the national flag and singing of the national anthem and a warm-up session.
About 50 participants – congregants of the mosque, residents of Kampong Sungai Akar and participants of the 72 times Khatam Al-Quran in conjunction with the birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam – took part in the event.
The objectives of the event were to uphold the titah of His Majesty in realising the Zikir Nation and to practise a healthy lifestyle. It also aimed at strengthening ties among congregants and residents of the village and support the vision and mission of the mosque.
