Ready your taste buds for authentic Thai cuisine

THE Seasons Restaurant will host the Taste of Thailand Festival from today to September 28.

Launched by guest of honour Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Biravij Suwanpradhes in an event last night, the festival will showcase varieties of authentic Thai cuisine prepared using fresh ingredients, herbs, spices and seasonings resulting its unique blend of flavours.

Members of the Board of Directors of Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC), representatives from Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, event partners; Century Travel Centre Sdn Bhd, ChaTraMue and other invited guests were present.

In his welcoming remarks, RBC General Manager Haji Jeff Hadiman bin Dato Paduka Haji Danial said that over the years, there is growing demand for Thai consumer foods with Bruneian micro small and medium enterprises’ specialising in Som Tam, Miang Kham and mango sticky rice.

“Cha Yen or Thai ice tea is becoming more popular among the Brunei consumer market such as the ChaTraMue franchise in Brunei that has mushroomed at a rapid pace,” he added.

The event also saw Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism in his capacity as the Chairman of RBC Board of Directors Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin handing over a souvenir as a token of appreciation to the guest of honour, witnessed by the RBC General Manager.

The two-week festival will offer an opportunity to experience the best of Thai cuisine including Tom Yum Kung, Som Tam (Papaya Salad), Pad Thai (Fried Rice Noodle with condiments), Buwaloi Peuak (Taro Dumpling in Coconut Milk), Gang Kiyao Wan Kai (Chicken Thai Green Curry) and many more.

Diners will also get a glimpse of the Thai culture. Throughout the weeks, Seasons Restaurant will offer Thai Hawker Lunch Stall every Monday to Wednesday at an affordable price while the Thai Dinner Buffet will be available every Thursday to Saturday. There will also be a free dine for every five paying adults.

RBC Dining Privilege cardholders are entitled to a 10 per cent discount. Diners will stand a chance to win one return ticket to Bangkok for the first prize sponsored by Century Travel Centre Sdn Bhd, a BND200 RBC dining voucher for second prize and a BND100 RBC dining voucher for third prize.
