A TOTAL of 16 players moved a step closer towards reaching the final of the 15 reds snooker singles in the Brunei National Championship 2018 after sealing their place for today’s third round at the Billiards & Snooker Hall II of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
In Group ‘A’, Muhidi will play Md Alias while Ahmad Taufiq is drawn against Abdul Rahim. Group ‘B’ will see Hasrijam taking on Amir Hasan with Malique meeting Lim Young Wee.
Group ‘C’ will be entertained with clashes between Pengiran Zaini and Md Hazwan and Su Ting Foo and Yii Hung. In Group ‘D’, Md Abu Supian will play Pengiran Khairul Rijal while Lim Wei Kok will meet Ang Beng Hui.
The losers from the second round matches on Monday were moved to the third round of the losers’ bracket, contested last night.
Sixteen players also featured in the losers’ draw but by the end of play, only eight will prevail and will continue their passage in the fourth round of the losers’ bracket.
The winners of the losers’ bracket third round will meet the losers from the winners’ bracket in the third round for a place in the fifth round of the losers’ bracket.
The preliminary rounds in the 15 reds snooker is played in a double elimination format and best of five frames. The games from quarterfinal will be played in a single elimination.
Organised by the Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association (BCSA), the week-long tournament which began on September 23 attracted 40 runners.
The tournament, part of the month-long Brunei National Championship which also features other events namely 8-ball and 9-ball pool singles and 6 reds snooker singles, will culminate in the final on September 30.
