UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) yesterday held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque in conjunction with the UTB Convocation 2018 which saw 166 participants, comprising 43 male and 123 female graduates from Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, and Foundation Degree (Higher National Diploma Level 5).
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour.
Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, senior officials from the Ministry of Education and UTB were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Minister of Education, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran by the participants led by a graduate from the Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering Muhammad Syazmuie bin Haji Sufri, and continued by the reading of Takhtim.
The Doa Khatam was recited by a graduate from the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics Awang Hamiz’ Abdulhadi bin Haji Osman.
The guest of honour presented certificates and souvenirs to the male khatam participants, while the Vice-Chancellor of UTB presented certificates and souvenirs to the female participants.
To conclude the event, a Doa Selamat was read by the Bilal of the UBD Mosque Awang Haji Sidek bin Haji Abdul Karim.
The UTB Convocation Ceremony 2018 for 461 Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, and Foundation Degree (Higher National Diploma Level 5) graduates will be held on September 29 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
