THE Museums Department and the Brunei Darussalam National Spinning Top Association (PERGAB) is hosting the ‘Promoting the Game of Spinning Top’ exhibition at the Sports Gallery of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin launched the exhibition.
Museums Department Acting Director Haji Mohamad Jefri bin Haji Sabli and PERGAB President Dato Paduka Haji Puasa bin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Tudin, the co-presidents of the exhibition, were present at the launch.
The exhibition aims to showcase and promote the traditional game of Gasing (spinning top) to members of the public. PERGAB members were present to demonstrate how to properly throw a Gasing and play the game.
The exhibition details the methods to create gasing, including the type of wood used to create it. Visitors will find on display a variety of Gasing, including Gasing Tradisi (Gasing Besar), Gasing Borneo Disiut, Gasing Borneo Gurau Ditanah, Gasing Pangkah Banyak Uri, Gasing Lunjong and Gasing Ubah Suai Di Tunggol.
The exhibition is open to the public from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 11.30am and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm; and from 9am to 11.30am and 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Fridays.
