265 students participate in Khatam Al-Quran ceremony

A TOTAL of 265 participants from 14 religious schools in Brunei I zone, comprising pupils from pre-school to Primary V students, participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.

The guest of honour was the Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Salminan bin Haji Burut.

The granddaughter of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Pengiran Nur Aabidah Syifa binti Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Al-Mokhtar, was among the Khatam participants.

As part of the ‘One Week One Juzuk’ (1MIJ) programme, the annual Khatam Al-Quran ceremony aimed at strengthening cooperation and unity between teachers, parents/guardians and students.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuha to Surah An-Nas by Khatam participants, the recitation of Takhtim by religious teachers of Brunei 1 zone, reading of prayer by a Khatam participant and a Dikir Marhaban performance by the male teachers.

The ceremony continued with sprinkling of scented flowers and the presentation of the Khatam certificates by the guest of honour to the participants. The ceremony ended with the reading of Doa Selamat.
