YESTERDAY’S pre-dawn talk titled, Prinsip dan Adab Berkomunikasi Menurut Perspektif Islam (An Islamic View on the Principles and Conventions of Communication), focussed on how current technology and social media have dominated the way we communicate with one another.
It was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
Judge at the Syariah Subordinate Court Mohd Shah bin Haji Taip outlined the main three components of communication: the sender, the medium (the method being used) and the receiver.
“Islam has outlined the principles and etiquette to be observed in communication, which include speaking honestly, using the right words, refraining from hurtful or vulgar speech, avoiding disputes, speaking courteously and being a source of integrity,” he said.
Present were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
Also present were Deputy Minister Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Judge at the Syariah Court of Appeal Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin and Syariah High Court Judges Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Haji Johar bin Haji Muhamad and Haji Hassan bin Haji Metali.
Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary (Corporate Affairs and Public Administration) at the Prime Minister’s Office Haji Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
The pre-dawn talk was part of the Masjidku Makmur, Negaraku Berkat programme jointly conducted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office, with the objectives to encourage worshippers to attend the mass Subuh prayer.
