IN THE spirit of giving back during the month of Ramadhan, Baiduri Bank Group organised a cleaning and repair works activity for Norja Zaman who lives with her family in Kilanas in a dilapidated home.
According to a press release, the family is living in a half-collapsed home when their kitchen floor gave way on May 30. The wooden house, which was built in the late seventies, was inherited by Norja when her father passed away.
Some 20 Baiduri Bank Group staff members volunteered their time at the house early on Saturday morning and spent the morning clearing the site in preparation for the repair works.
Andrew Young, Deputy General Manager of Operations Management Division, Diversification and Strategic Development of Baiduri Bank said, “Giving back to our community, whether it is through financial aid or through hands-on involvement like this activity, is a key aspect of corporate social responsibility. We strive, working with our employees, to improve the general quality of life of our local community. This spirit of caring for one another is one of the pillars in our corporate responsibility program and is encouraged among Baiduri Bank Group staff.”
Dorothy Newn, Head of Group Communications who was one of the volunteers, further elaborated, “Our objective is to provide immediate but temporary relief by rebuilding the kitchen so that they can go back to their daily lives as soon as possible. We hope that this humble contribution of ours will bring some immediate relief for Norja and her family.”
Baiduri will be covering the labour costs and basic furniture while LUXE Development Sdn Bhd has contributed the building materials for the project.
The rebuilding work is expected to take 10 days and is targeted to be completed before the coming Hari Raya.
