COMMUNITY and Communication Bureau of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Village Consultative Council (MPK Panchor Mengkubau) hosted Sunnat Hajat prayer to attain the blessings for the Waqaf Ilmu project students in their upcoming exam at the RPN Kampong Mentiri Community Hall recently.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour.
Member of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman as Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong and Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim were also present.
The event began with mass Maghrib prayer led by Mosque Officer Sofiyan bin Haji Abdul Kahar.
In his speech, Deputy Chairman of MPK Panchor, Mengkubau, Haji Hairul Azri bin Haji Salamat said that the Waqaf Ilmu project aimed to help students from selected families with free tuitions to prepare for the upcoming Primary School Assessment (PSR) examinations.
Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan shared a few motivational words with the students before thanking all the parties involved in the success of the Waqaf Ilmu project and hoped that the programme will continue in the coming years.
The Waqaf Ilmu project was personally supported by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and organised by MPK Panchor Mengkubau with the support from Brunei-Muara District Office.
Twenty students living in RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau and an orphan currently studying at Serasa Primary School were chosen to a five-month tuition in Malay, Science and Mathematics subjects by six volunteer teachers every Friday and Sunday afternoon.
