Third Jungle Walk sees rise in participants

AROUND 800 people participated in the 3rd Jungle Walk 2018 yesterday while in 2016, participants totalled to over 500 and over 700 were recorded in 2017.

The third Jungle Walk 2018, hosted by the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam (Brunei-Muara Branch), saw the number of participants increasing by 100.

The walk was held at the Tasik Sarubing Recreational Park, Kampong Belimbing.

Guest of honour, Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Ong Tiong Oh launched the event. He was accompanied by his spouse. Representatives from several Chinese associations and private companies in Brunei Darussalam were also present.

The event was divided into three categories – long distance (4.5km), short distance (3km) and VIP (2km).

The event began with a warm up session led by members of the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam (Brunei-Muara Branch).

Organising Chairperson Tan Siew Fung said the event was held to promote a healthy lifestyle through recreational activities. It also sought to strengthen ties among participants.

She expressed gratitude to Village Head of Kampong Belimbing Haji Gapor @ Haji Md Daud bin Karim for allowing the event to be held at the park as well as the organising committee for their hard work.

Guest of honour, Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Ong Tiong Oh, along with his spouse, officiates the event. – JAMES KON
