FIVE ICT teams representing Brunei Darussalam at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2018 held in Guangzhou, China, won merit awards in three different categories.
Yesterday the participating teams returned home, where they were welcomed at the Brunei International Airport by Minister of Communications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof.
Brunei Darussalam sent eight teams to APICTA this year, comprising winners and runners-up from BICTA 2018.
Brunei’s participation in the APICTA Awards is a continuous initiative by the Ministry of Communications, with the joint collaboration of Authority for Info-communications and Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and Infocomm Federation of Brunei (IFB), to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT, as well as to develop the nation’s ICT sector by encouraging individuals, students and businesses to compete at the international level.
Since 2008, Brunei has achieved two winner’s awards, 24 merit awards and four special mentions in APICTA.
