THE Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) hosted a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday, as part of its annual religious activities to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan.
Gracing the ceremony, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Yayasan Complex in the capital, was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, the Chairman of the Yayasan Committee of Governors.
The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran, by teachers and pupils from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB).
This was followed by the Khatam Al-Quran and Tahlil led by Mohd Hashim bin Haji Abdullah and Haji Khairul Manan bin Haji Hawafi, a teacher from ITQSHHB.
The Doa Khatam and Doa Tahlil was read by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, the Chief Syar’ie Judge.

The event concluded with the breaking of the fast, followed by mass Maghrib prayers, which were also joined by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Also in attendance were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education, who is also the Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance II, who is also the Vice Chairman I of Yayasan Board of Directors; and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Vice Chairman II of Yayasan Board of Directors.
