RESPONSE to the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund, established to help ease the suffering of survivors of the earthquake and tsunami which struck Sulawesi, Indonesia on September 28, has been good so far, with the fund receiving a flurry of donations of late.

One of these was a sizeable BND50,000 contribution from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday.

The donation was handed over to Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin (receiving on behalf of the fund) by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, who is also a member of Yayasan Board of Directors and Chairman of the Yayasan Assessment Committee for Assistance.

Commenting on the donation during the handover ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports said, “We are blessed today to receive this sum of money from Yayasan. I hope that more members of the public will come forward to donate to the fund.”

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office noted that Yayasan’s decision to make a contribution to the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund followed a meeting on the disaster by the Yayasan Board of Directors.
