STRONG family ties based on the teachings of Islam are important in fostering harmony within the community and the country, according to National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) President Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohammad Ali.
Datin Hajah Masni was delivering her opening remarks at the BASMIDA Forum 2018 entitled Keluarga Sakinah Mewujudkan Masyarakat Bahagia held at Parkview Hotel, Jerudong yesterday.
Officiating the event themed Keluarga Bahagia Tanpa Penyalahgunaan Dadah, was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
Datin Hajah Masni said, “The community needs to know the basics of a healthy, functioning family based on Islamic teachings, because stronger familial bonds mean a more harmonious life,”.
Datin Hajah Masni also shared several activities being conducted by the association, such as its Three Generations Walkathon to encourage healthy lifestyles, a distribution of family-related book- Family The Bond That Binds and The 10 Tips to a Happy Family, Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies, and religious talks.
The forum continued with a speech by the guest of honour, followed by a keynote address entitled Keluarga Sakinah Mewujudkan Masyarakat Bahagia by Dr Sakinah binti Haji Salleh from Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris, Malaysia.
Two dialogue sessions were hosted: Situasi Penyalahgunaan Dadah di Negara Brunei Darussalam by Pengiran Haji Saiful Rizal bin Pengiran Putera Negara Pengiran Haji Omar, Assistant Director at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB); and Pendekatan dan Penyelesaian dari Perspektif Islam dalam Masalah Penyalahgunaan Dadah by Ustaz Muskrisman Safari bin Haji Mustapa, a religious development officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The sessions were chaired by Hajah Linda Aini binti Abdullah, deputy president of BASMIDA and chairperson of BASMIDA Forum 2018. The event concluded with a presentation of souvenirs and tokens of appreciation to the members of BASMIDA Forum 2018.
