ROZAIMI Ahmad with 73 gross and Colonel Kamarudzaman with 86 nett were crowned overall champions in the gross and nett categories of the Merdeka Golf Tournament PKMS 2018 at RBA Golf Club in Berakas yesterday.
Seventy-two golfers participated in the event jointly organised by Persatuan Kebajikan Melayu Se-Malaysia (PKMS) and Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam.
Guest of honour, Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the 1st runner-up in the senior nett category.
The tournament was divided into four categories – Division A nett (Handicap 00-11), Division B nett (Handicap 12 -18), Senior nett (handicap 0-24) and Division C nett (handicap 19-24).
President of PKMS Haji Azaman bin Haji Suleiman said tournament was held in conjunction with the Malaysia’s 61st National Day celebration. It sought to raise funds for the association charity activity while strengthening ties among participants.
The gross winners were Zulehram Yakub with 74 gross, 1st runner-up Major (U) Hairol Ahmad with 75 gross and 2nd runner-up Khairol Bakar with 76 gross.
Division A winner was Hazman Abu Bakar 70 nett, 1st runner-up Ahmad Munadi with 70 nett OCB and 2nd runner-up Azmi Haji Osman with 71 nett. Division B winner was Captain Suhaini Suhaili with 70 nett, 1st runner-up Haji Mohd Ali Haji Abdul Jalil with 70 nett OCB and 2nd runner-up Shahnom Haji Ahmad with 70 nett OCB.
Division C winner was Major (U) Waslee Roslee with 70 nett, 1st runner-up Menuddin Daud with 71 nett and 2nd runner-up Haji Mazlan Haji Abd Rahman with 71 nett OCB.
Senior nett category winner was Haji Omar Haji Asmat 69 nett, 1st runner-up Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi 70 nett, 2nd runner-up Colonel (Rtd) Haji Md Rashid Asut with 71 nett and 3rd runner up Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz with 71 nett.
