AL-MUKARABIN of Mukim Sengkurong and Al-Amirah of Mukim Mentiri emerged overall champions in the male and female categories in the final of the qualifying rounds in Dikir Syarafil Anam competition among mukim and village consultative councils held at the multipurpose hall of the Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters in Berakas.
The guest of honour Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong and spouse, Datin Paduka Hajah Zahrah binti Haji Mohamad were present.
An-Nur team from Mukim Labu, Temburong and Al-Muflihun of Mukim Kuala Belait won second and third places in the male category.
Team Khairunnisa of Mukim Bokok and Team Soleha of Mukim Kuala Belait clinched second and third places in the female category. Ten teams from all four districts participated.
The competition was held in conjunction with the 72nd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
