A KHATAM Al-Quran ceremony was held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of Pertiwi Association at the Mulia Hotel in Kampong Anggerek Desa yesterday.
Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah binti Haji Mohammad, spouse of the Minister of Home Affairs, was the guest of honour.
A total of 110 members of the Pertiwi Association participated.
“Fifty years is a long period for a non-government organisation to survive and actively be engaged with several challenges. With the enthusiasm of its former leaders and current leaders as well as the support and unity of its members,” said President of Pertiwi Association and chairperson of the ceremony Datin Hajah Siti Hajar binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof.
She said achievements included the establishment of Taman Asuhan Pertiwi and Pertiwi Cooperative Company.
The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustazah Dayangku Zainab binti Pengiran Haji Tuah followed by the reading of verses of Al-Quran and continued with the reading of Takhtim and Dikir Marhaban. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
