THE country’s soft tip darts community is slowly generating interest as B Darts Company is currently organising the DARTSLIVE Super 2 League in its first ever season in Serusop.
A total of 11 teams are taking part with six teams grouped in the AA flight and five teams completing the BB flight.
The minimum number of players in the team is two and the maximum has been capped at four.
The participating teams will be competing opponents from their same flight in a round robin format for five weeks every Friday night at 6pm and 8pm.
The league also attracted enthusiasts from the Belait district highlighting that interest of soft tip darts is not only confined within the Brunei Muara district.
With the results able to be viewed online, The Shield emerged as pacesetters in the opening week with 12 points followed by Taken in second place with 10 points and Never Give Up in a distant third with 2 points.
According to Lim Sei Chin, owner of B Darts Company, the objective of the league is to assist players to earn an official rating in the hopes of selecting a player to represent Brunei at international level.
A player could only be given a rating if he or she plays and the maximum rating is 16 held by a professional player though it fluctuates.
“If you have a 5 rating, you can play in the CC flight. It is actually very fair and AA represents professional and BB represents medium”, Lim said.
He added that a rating from 1 to 7 represents the CC level; 8 to 12 represents BB level while 13 and above represents the AA group.
The teams must have their own rating to identify which flight they belong to in the league that can be accessed at the press of a button.
“Before they join, they must have their own rating so that we can group them according to their rating”, he concluded.
The country’s soft tip darts scene first came to prominence earlier this year when Muhammad Hamizan Awang Osman and Hui Chiet grabbed the men’s and women’s titles in the B Darts Soft Darts Tournament.
