AL IDRUS FT and Riwayat secured places in the quarterfinal of the Al Idrus FA Cup after emphatic wins over lowly Panaga 2000 FC Veteran and Combine KSKA recently.

Both teams, who topped their respective groups in the Al Idrus Football League Championship, shared 13 goals among them and did not concede any goal.

Though the two teams are in different ends of the FA Cup draw, they share similarities having set the highest winning margin in the league. Bolstered by lethal marksman Md Nadzrin bin Abdullah in front of goal, Al Idrus won 21-0 only for Riwayat to eclipse the record with a 25-0 win few days later.

Al Idrus continue to be untested in the domestic scene after trouncing Panaga 10-0 while there was a degree of respect in the scoreline as Riwayat eased to a 3-0 win over Combine KSKA.

Having taken a 2-0 lead at the break through Muhammad Nadzrin and Shahrul Rizal Haji Abdul Rahman, Al Idrus turned the heat with the duo adding four more each in the second half.

Riwayat took a slender lead through Haji Rosli Haji Moksin the 22nd minute before Azamain bin Haji Masri and Mohd Iswandi Haji Hamdani added their names on the score-sheet to mark a comfortable win.

TJ FT and Azam FT are the other teams that earned a berth in the last eight.

The competition continues tomorrow with the pick of the round a crunch tie between AH United and Cleas Veteran FC at the Jerudong Mini Stadium.

Meanwhile, PSJD will take on Besa FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex while PMS, who still harbour hopes of progressing to the next round in the league, take on Rimba Star at the Tutong Sports Complex.
