Politeknik Brunei (PB)
POLITEKNIK Brunei (PB) recently held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang to mark its 4th Convocation ceremony.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
Politeknik Brunei Director Denis Ho Mun Tai, directors and heads of department, lecturers and staff of PB, as well as parents attended the event.
A total of 684 students (317 male and 367 female) took part in the religious event.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, and continued with the recitation of Quranic verses by the Khatam participants.
Level 5 Diploma in Business Accounting and Finance programme graduate Awangku Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Joofri led the recitation of Takhtim and Doa Khatam.
The event also saw a mass recitation of Dikir Marhaban, sprinkling of scented oil and presentation of certificates to the Khatam participants by the guest of honour.
Imam Haji Jofri bin Haji Abidin led the Doa Kesyukuran. The ceremony concluded with mass Asar prayer.
The event was organised by the Islamic Education Unit, General Education Department in collaboration with the Students and Innovation Development Centre and Student Affairs Department.
Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School
A total of 381 students of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB)Arabic Preparatory School were celebrated in a Khatam Al-Quran and Haflut Takharruj ceremony at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre on Friday morning.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang attended as the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, and was followed by recitation of Surah-Surah Lazim by the Year 6 Khatam participants. It continued with the recitation of Takhtim and Doa Khatam by Year 6 Qirmizi student Nur Ameerah Arifah binti Norfaizan.
To enliven the event, a Dikir Marhaban was held before the guest of honour handed out certificates to the students.
The event was held to celebrate students for completing their education at the BSB Arabic Preparatory School, and to strengthen relations between teachers and parents. At the same time, it aimed to encourage students to read Al-Quran properly.
Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School
Meanwhile, the Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School in Mentiri also held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at its multipurpose hall.
Legislative Council member cum Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, who is also Acting Village Head of Kampong Serasa/RPN Perpindahan Serasa, was the guest of honour.
A total of 175 Year 11 students participated in the yearly activity, which is held to encourage students to become well-versed in reciting Al-Quran, while at the same time preparing them mentally and spiritually in facing their upcoming academic year.
Principal Dayangku Hajah Norhasima binti Pegiran Haji Hassan, deputy principal, senior mistresses, parents and teachers association members were also present.
