WINNERS of the finals of the badminton tournament among primary schools nationwide 2018 received prizes at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Sports School Brunei Darussalam yesterday.
Assistant Director of the Co-Curriulum Education Department Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais was the guest of honour.
In the Boys Singles final, Dessen Chung Min Tin of Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) defeated Najib bin Abdullah of Muda Hashim Primary School in straight sets 5-21, 5-21. Md Sahibul Faiz bin Md Norfaidzal of Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Primary school was third while Md Darwish Aiman bin Mardianni of Delima Satu Primary School was fourth.
The Girls Singles category saw a nail biting final between Nur Amalina binti Zufli of Katok ‘B’ Primary School and Siti Imasuharah binti Matali of Nakhoda Abdul Rashid Primary School Menunggol. Nur Amalina overcame from a set down to win 14-21, 21-18, 21-18 in three sets.
Third place went to Siti Aisyah Umairah binti Haji Zuraimi of Orang Kaya Besar Imas Primary School Subok, and Nurharisah Dania binti Arman of Tanah Jambu Primary School took fourth place.
Telanai Beribi Primary School’s Md Talipuddin bin Ermadena with partner Md Haziq bin Roza defeated Md Aqil Baqir bin Md Zulkarnain and Md Syahmi Rusyaidi bin Rozaime of Datu Ratna Haji Muhammad Jaafar Kiarong Primary School 21-12, 21-12 to win the Boys Doubles category. Third place went to Chin Fong Bin and Terence Lee Jia Siong of Chung Hwa Middle School BSB and fourth place went to Md Shahrul Rizwan bin Shahrizul Hafiz and Md Syahir Wafiq bin Jaafar of Binturan Primary School.
Crystal Tan and Ngau Fong Ying of Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait won the Girl’s Doubles event after defeating Semabat Primary School’s pair Nurul Bazilah Majeedah binti Haji Mokhsin and Suzielin Nataliea anak Bujang 21-12, 21-6 in the final.
In third place were Nur Rizwana binti Abdullah Jukari and Mansyurah Fathrisya binti Ratano of Saba Darat Primary School, while fourth place went to Wajihah Emah binti Awang Azis and Zafirah binti Haji Abdul Lawi of Katok ‘B’ Primary School.
