Security personnel urged to uphold image

PRIVATE security personnel were urged to uphold the image of security companies and refrain from engaging in any undesirable criminal activities that are against the laws of the nation.

The call was made by Dato Paduka Seri Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Awang Besar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Koperasi Rimbun Berhad (KOPRI) during a certificate presentation ceremony for 16 new staff of KOPRI security services who completed their basic security services.

Certificates of appreciation were also presented to six security officers who helped nab thieves at supermarkets where they were stationed at.

The event was held at KOPRI headquarters at Haji Uthman Complex in Berakas.

Dato Paduka Seri Haji Abdul Rahman who was also the chief guest at the event also urged the security personnel to maintain good discipline, and respect their employers. He also advised them to inform their superiors should they encounter any problems and not to solve it on their own.

He also said wearing improper uniform would taint the image of the security company. They should also preserve the image of the nation particularly when visitors from abroad visit government offices.

“Being a security personnel is not an easy task as they also need to ensure that the building properties must also be in safe hands.

Since July 2015, 285 participants have completed their basic security courses in Security Officer Training School (POLKOP), out of which, 167 participants have been offered security job at KOPRI.

Meanwhile, a course participant, Muslim Masri said during the five-day course beginning July 18, the personnel were taught on the basics of security jobs, proper use of communication equipment and guidelines.

“It is not an easy task but we take it as a challenge,” he said.
