BRUNEI Darussalam’s sepak takraw team said they will give their best as Brunei hosts the 10th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Bolkiah Garison from December 7-9.
The national team will compete in Inter Regu (five players) and Quad (six players ) categories.
Captain of Team ‘A’ Mohammad Norsaparizal bin Haji Awang in an interview said, “We have been training hard for three months in preparation for the competition. As host country, we hope we could make the country proud by winning medals in the Games.”
The captain has picked out Sabah and Indonesia as tough opponents, but said that his team will do their best to win all their matches.
Team ‘B’ captain is Md Nur Hafizullah bin Hafni, and the team is led by national coach Rawat Parbchompoo from Thailand.
Eight sporting events will be contested in the Games namely aquatics, athletics, karatedo, lawn bowling, pencak silat, wushu, taekwondo and sepak takraw.
This will be the second time that Brunei Darussalam is hosting the BIMP-EAGA Friendship Games, being the first in 2008 when Brunei won 12 gold, nine silver and 14 bronze medals.
Brunei bagged four gold and two silver medals in 2016 when the game was hosted in Samarinda.
