TELEKOM Brunei Berhad (TelBru) feted some 800 guests for the first-ever charity movie night at Jerudong Park Colonnade last Saturday night to further enliven the holiday season.
Guests from various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that focus on the welfare and development of children alongside their parents and guardians attended the event.
Among those who gathered for the event included children with different abilities, children living with cancer as well as those from financially-challenged backgrounds. Others who attended were winners of TelBru’s social media competition held earlier this week.
Three locally produced films were showcased namely Bungsu Story, Apa Ada Dengan Rina 2 and Anggur in Pockland as a means to promote local talent from the entertainment industry.
TelBru’s charity movie night was organised as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) in supporting not just the country’s efforts towards promoting home-based activities but also family values.
TelBru CEO David Holliday said, “As an organisation that values the Bruneian way of life, TelBru is proud to be part of a community that places great value on the family institution.
“This gathering is especially important to us. Many of the families invited face unique challenging circumstances that many of us cannot imagine, and so with events such as this, we help to provide an opportunity to bond and relax outside their regular routine.”
