NATIONAL Wushu athletes representing Brunei Darussalam in the 10th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games from December 7-9 in Brunei Darussalam are aiming for gold.
The Wushu athletes are Mohd Adi Salihin bin Roslan, Mohd Safiee Shayferan bin Roslan, Walid Lachkar, Majdurano Joel bin Majallah Sain, Hosea Wong Zheng Yu, Abel @ Lim Wee Yuan, Danial Hasbullah Lim Yen Yee bin Md Saiful, Ang Guat Lian, Sherissa Lim Wan Chi, Ling DeXuan, Nur Batrisyia binti Ripin, Ling DeXun and Lim Yee Sean.
The contested events are Male ChangQuan, Female JianShu, Male TaijiJian, Female TaijiQuan, Female NanDao, Male NanQuan, Female ChangQuan, Male DaoShu, Female TaijiJian, Male NanGun, Female NanQuan, and Male TaijiQuan.
According to national Wushu Coach Li Hui, “I have high confidence that our young athletes will be able to obtain half of the gold medals being contested. They competed in the Asian Games and Southeast Asia Games. They have vast experience in the competition.”
He noted that some of the opponents have better exposure in terms of training overseas and also increased participation in overseas competitions.
With home ground advantage and support from local fans, Li Hui hopes that his athletes will show their best performance to bring glory to the country.
