BRUNEI Darussalam’s karate team are ready to win gold medals in the 10th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games that will begin on December 8 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Five athletes under the tutelage of Sensei Sofian will compete in the Ladies Team Kata, Ladies Individual Team Kata and Men Individual Kata events.
One of the athletes Rodhyatul Adhwanna binti Bakar, who will be competing in the Individual Kata and Team Kata said they have been training since early June.
“We joined the Malaysian Games (SUKMA), Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) and the recent Shitokai Brunei Open Karate Championship.
“I bagged one bronze in SUKMA, one gold and one bronze for SKBD and two gold in the Brunei Open.
“We hope we will win this tournament and try to win all the categories, and make our country proud,” she said.
BIMPNT-EAGA stands for Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Northern Territory of Australia East Asian Growth Area.
